Mox Wallet
Accept card payments, get paid automatically — no chasing buyers, no manual bank transfers.
How it works for sellers
- 1
Buyer pays by card
The buyer chooses to pay by card at checkout. A small card surcharge of 2.9% + $0.30 is added to their total. This fee is grossed up so that after Stripe deducts it, you receive the full sale price — not a cent short.
- 2
Funds held securely for 5 days after shipping
Once you mark the order as shipped in MoxMarket, a 5-day security hold begins. This protects against disputes and chargebacks. When the hold clears, funds appear in your Mox Wallet automatically — no action needed.
- 3
Withdraw to your bank
Request a withdrawal any time your balance is above the minimum. Funds land in your NZ bank account within 1–2 business days.
What buyers see
A transparent surcharge line
Buyers see a "Card processing fee" line item at checkout. The amount is calculated so that Stripe's fee is covered exactly. It's clear, honest, and expected — most online markets do the same.
You always receive the full sale price
The surcharge is passed through to the buyer. MoxMarket calculates it so your listed price is what you receive, every time. Your commission is calculated on the listed price, not the grossed-up total.
What happens if a chargeback is lost
If a buyer disputes a card payment with their bank and the dispute is decided against you, the chargeback amount is debited from your Mox Wallet. If your balance covers it, the funds are deducted and your wallet unfreezes once the dispute closes. If your balance is insufficient, it will go negative — that debt is recovered automatically from your next sale credits before any withdrawal becomes available.
How to protect yourself
- →Photograph every card before packing — a clear photo showing condition is your strongest evidence.
- →Keep your proof of postage until the order is marked complete.
- →Mark orders as shipped promptly — the 5-day hold only starts once you do.
- →Respond to any MoxMarket dispute requests within 48 hours. We fight disputes on your behalf but need your evidence to do it.
Fees
| Free | Subscriber | Trade | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platform commission | 3% | 2.75% | 2.5% |
| Withdrawal fee | $2.00 | $2.00 | $1.00 |
| Card surcharge (buyer pays) | ~2.9% + $0.30 | same | same |
| Minimum withdrawal | $15 | $15 | $15 |
The card surcharge is calculated so Stripe's processing fee is covered exactly — MoxMarket doesn't take a cut of it.
The 5-day hold explained
After you mark an order as shipped, funds are held for 5 days before they become available to withdraw. This window protects against buyer disputes and card chargebacks — if a buyer raises a dispute, withdrawals are paused until it's resolved. This is standard practice on all card payment platforms, and it keeps the marketplace fair for everyone.
